East Ivy Photography is Chattanooga's Newborn Photographer
Newborns are truly tiny miracles! I’ve been around enough newborns to know one thing for sure: they don’t stay that tiny for long. The newborn phase is by far the shortest time of all of your baby’s milestones. It’s a race to age one and it starts FAST, right out of the gate. Preserving your memories by photographing your baby’s delicate toes and brand new eye lashes is one of my most favorite things in the world to do.
If it’s the curled up, sleepy posed newborn photos you’re after, these are best taken between 4-16 days after your baby’s birth. This is the time when most newborns are at their sleepiest. As your newborn gets older, their sleep is more easily disturbed which makes posing them a bit more difficult. Also dry, flaky newborn skin tends to set in a couple of weeks after your baby is born, then baby acne. With that said--if you are reading this and you're baby is already a week or two old, please don't worry! There is plenty we can still photograph about your 3 week old baby! Don’t let that stop you from contacting me for newborn photos. Often an “older” newborn can still be coaxed into a pose or two, so don’t stress!
Partners as well as older siblings are always encouraged to participate. Newborn sessions typically last 2-3 hours, and take place in studio. We start with family/sibling photos. Once we have finished family photos, everyone else can change into comfy clothes and relax. Kids are welcome to play with toys in the studio lounge, watch TV, have snacks, or play outside. Baby usually needs a feeding and settling midway through his or her session, and there is a quiet, private, comfortable place to nurse. After baby has had a good feed (either a full bottle or 20-30 minutes of breastfeeding) I'll move on to posed solo newborn portraits.
Newborn portrait clients will have access to several neutral backdrops for family photos, along with my wide variety of wraps, blankets, hats, and headbands, plus the newborn poser and collection of baskets, buckets, and other newborn props. The studio is kept warm, around 80 degrees, for baby's comfort when undressed.
Your $300 session fee includes 2-3 hours of shooting time, access to my Client Closet (perfect for post-partum bodies) and use of my large selection of studio props.
You'll receive a digital proofing gallery, where you will choose your ten favorite photos for final edits. This is your chance to ask for a little magic! I can erase scratches and blemishes, swap smiles from phone photo to another, even slim down arms and legs. You'll have the option to purchase additional images for final edits as well.
