When this sweet couple contacted me about their maternity photos, with an early fall due date, I was so excited. They said they were flexible on location, and my first thought was Point Park on Lookout Mountain, or maybe Sunset Rock. Since there are no older siblings to fall off the edge, those mountain vista locations would be AH-MA-ZING.
Well, COVID has closed BOTH of those locations all summer. Then, back in July, a friend asked me to go whitewater rafting on the Ocoee. The whole way down on the raft I kept thinking, "oooh! that's a good picture spot! oooh, look at that tree! I could put a family under there!" Y'all, it's so pretty. I'm not a real extreme sports person, but it was worth getting soaked just for those views. So that's what started the wheels turning on this location, by Sugarloaf Mountain in the Cherokee Mountain Forest.
IT. IS. STUNNING.
If you are in the Chattanooga area, it's a perfect day trip, about an hour from the city. Go to the centennial park area during the day to play in the tide pools, collect smooth stones, and walk the shaded paths. Pack a picnic or check out one of the funky diners on Highway 74. At sunset, enjoy the breathtaking views at the three overlooks on Sugarloaf Mountain. Drive home in the dark, holding hands with your sweetheart.
Kally and her husband are both essential workers who have kept going throughout the pandemic (and really, their whole lives) making the world a better, safer, healthier place for all of us. Although they've grown up in the area, they'd never been to these locations before and it was such a joy be able to share it with them.
Life can be so hard, but it can also surprise you with unexpected beauty, even in your own backyard. It was the perfect place for Kally and Neke to start a new adventure together.
"where you are is where I want to be"
This white lace dress is available in my Client Closet. Please borrow it!
This blue gown is also in the Client Closet.
Doesn't Kally look like an absolute goddess?!? Seriously, editing these photos, I kept saying to my husband, "that's it. I'm dead. I have died and gone to heaven. She is an angel."
((big shoutout to Neke who helped make the floaty dress magic happen!)
When I pulled together this last part of the gallery, I felt a little bit like the fairy Merryweather, getting Sleeping Beauty's dress ready for the ball.
"Make it pink!"
"No, make it blue!"
"No, make it pink!"
(and purple! ooh, grey! white! navy! teal! aqua! seriously, Kally looks good in EVERY COLOR!!!)
When you just can't decide what color to wear, call me. LOL. I can't decide either!
