Sophie's 3-month Session
It feels like just yesterday I was cradling sleepy little Sophie in the studio, but this week she came back for her 3-month portraits and she has changed so much!

This age is a lot of fun because babies typically have enough neck strength to hold their heads up really well, but they aren't crawling away yet! We started Sophie off in a beautiful white smocked gown that her mama brought for her. This little wicker chair was just right (with Mama standing right next to her in case she started to roll!)

Sophie filled up the bassinet so much more than she did as a newborn! She had such a amazing eye contact, too.

The obsession with baby toes and chubby little thighs continues. She really had amazing neck strength for only just being 3 months--- mama says she loves tummy time!

We switched over to this little pink cableknit romper from the Client Closet. Sophie's mom popped this creamy top on for an over-the-shoulder pose (quickly becoming one of my absolute favorite parent poses!)

Mama loves the beach, and held this Tiger Cowrie up for Sophie to look at. I love baby's profile here , round cheeks and the little button nose, and mama's beautiful hands & wedding band. I wish my nails looked that good!

Sophie needed a little break here, so I had the chance to take some nice photos of the heirloom baby gown that mama brought to the session. Sophie is the third generation to be photographed in this gown-- her mama and grandmother also wore it. Such a lovely tradition.

One of the photos of Sophie's grandmother in this gown were taken in a round-back chair. so we used something very similar in the studio.

Sophie was in a wonderful mood and all smiles. Those big blue eyes just POP on camera.

These portraits are lovely both in color and in black & white. Such sweet expressions, and those chubby little baby wrists under her- so cute!

Mama wanted to have some pink in the gallery, so we popped Sophie into this light pink dress from the Client Closet, and photographed her with a pink layer. She was making the most adorable little faces at her Daddy. The tongue!

Then we flipped her over for a tummy photo with this pastel rainbow toy.

Sophie didn't seem to mind hair bows or bonnets at all, and modeled this one like a champ. She had her eyes fixed on mama and daddy.

Sophie's big blue eyes were just *begging* for some pops of blue, so while I switched lights around, Dad changed changed Sophie into this dress from the Client Closet. (For anyone counting, this is Sophie's 4th look!) Although this session was just focused on baby, when I walked in and saw Dad holding baby like this, I had to yell for them to FREEZE! Y'all are being too sweet together for me NOT to take this. (Also-- does Dad's bicep look poppin here or what?!)

I love to use "negative space" -- aka empty space-- in portraits. Here, I think the empty space brings your attention to how small baby is.

More blue-eyed smiles from Sophie.

And Sophie in a periwinkle sweater. Love the little Peter Pan collar popping over and her little expression here.

A pensive moment. :)

Thanks for coming to visit me, Sophie! I loved seeing how much you've grown, beautiful girl.
xoxo.
